With very few exceptions, everyone should have a well-planned up-to-date Last Will and Testament.
A Last Will and Testament is the only legal document that lets you decide how your assets are to be distributed after your death and it is also the only way that you can appoint a guardian to look after your most valuable asset, your children.
Your estate represents all of the wealth that you have acquired during your lifetime. We believe that it is worth the expense of retaining a lawyer to assist you in your estate planning and to draft the required documents to ensure that your wishes are recognized and carried out.
We also recommend that our clients prepare an Enduring Power of Attorney and a Personal Directive.
An Enduring Power of Attorney allows you to appoint someone you trust to look after your financial affairs in the event you lose mental capacity. A Personal Directive, on the other hand, appoints a person of your choosing to make personal and/or medical decisions for you once you are no longer capable of making those decisions for yourself.
